The Legion

A memo from our National Commander Dan Dellinger of 2013:

The strength of our organization, the largest wartime veterans service organization, is in the 2.3 million volunteer force. In nearly every community in America, Legion members assist veterans, advocate for our men and women in uniform, and run special programs such as Legion Baseball and Boys State. In the posts, Legionnaires lead fundraising drives for community charitable organizations, feed and shelter storm victims, and bond with potential new members.

As well as the above, our Post gives a scholarship to a deserving student each year. The student is a member of the Air Force ROTC at Elkins High School in Missouri City, Texas. Each year some of the Legion members interview selected students to determine which student is most deserving to receive the scholarship. We take a lot of pride in this event.

In 2012, our Post donated $400 to the city of Missouri City, Texas for their memorial trees planting events. That was a real honor for our Post to recognize local veterans who have passed away.
